    • 6th Grade: Veni Jesu

Sing your part as you listen to the recording. Note how different the style of this song is from our other two pieces of music. Singing it in the correct style will help you understand how the harmonies and rhythms work. Pay close attention to the pronunciation of the foreign language. Finally, listen to how the dynamics help shape the song so that it conveys a message and is not just a "boring" chorus song.

    • 6th Grade: Shallow

Sing your part with the recording as you listen along. Pay very close attention to the 2 and 3 part harmony sections, as it is important that you sing your harmony and not the melody. Baritones, please note that there is both a "tenor" and "bass" part in this recording. This means that there will be a very low voice (the bass) that you will hear. Please ignore that and follow your part as written in your music. If you would like to have one of the solos in this song, make sure to practice along with the recording to get the correct phrasing and feel for the music.

    • 6th Grade: Coco Medley

Sing your part as you listen. Pay close attention to where there are no harmonies, 2 part harmony, and 3 part harmony. Also pay close attention to style of the different songs that are included in this medley. It is extremely important (and difficult) to switch styles in the middle of a song.

    • 7th/8th Grade: Once Call Away (A Capella)

Sing your part along with the recording. Pay attention to how the background parts interact with the soloists. For example, you will hear the soloist say one word and then the background parts say that word one beat later. This interplay is what makes the arrangement complicated and fun to sing.

    • 7th/8th Grade: The Defining Moment

Sing your part along with the recording. Baritones, note that there is a Tenor and Bass part in this recording, as there is no recording with just a Baritone part. Pay close attention to dynamics, diction, and the feeling that the choir evokes. This is an upbeat, energetic song and should sound so. Listen to how the accomplish this. Finally, listen to the second half of The Defining Moment (when the parts are split) and see how your part fits in.
