Welcome to Beginning Band!

Students who are interested in joining the beginning band in September 2025 should make sure that they receive an enrollment form from Mrs. Lester at school. All enrollment forms are due to Mrs. Lester no later than Friday, September 12. Tryouts will begin on Monday, September 15 and will end on Friday, September 19. Lessons will begin on Monday, September 22. All students will have a weekly instrument lesson. Beginning in January, the students will also start meeting once a week for a large ensemble rehearsal.

Home practicing is a MUST! There will be bi-weekly playing tests to show growth and knowlegge. Please help your child to find a calm, quiet place at home that will be good for practicing and recording their playing tests.

Students in the Beginner Band will use the book Tradition of Excellence.  All books should be purchased by the end of October. The color of book is Red with a picture of the instrument that the book is written for. If you are purchasing a book for Baritone, Clarinet, Saxophone, or Drums, you should use the following instructions:

   For Baritone, you should purchase a book for Baritone/Euphonium BC. 

   For Clarinet, you should purchase a book for Bb Clarinet.

   For Saxophone, you should purchase a book for ALTO Saxophone.

   For Drums, you should purchase a book for Percussion.
